COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CHOIR - 3rd Rehearsal Notes
-
We hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for!!!
-
THANK YOU for your flexibility and resiliance. Last Monday's rehearsal could have been such a train wreck, but you all took the challenge and we made awesome lemonade out of a surpise delivery of lemons. SHOUT OUT to Anna Radford and TAPPED. It was such a nice "coincidence" that she was there with her key to that space and a generous spirit

Monday, November 27th is our last rehearsal before the tree lighting. Regular time- 6:30-7:30 in our regular library room. We will sing through our songs and focus on those spots that need more attention and walk over to where we will be singing on December 2. Be sure to wear warm clothes for that "field trip".
-
All the details about the Christmas tree lighting are on the bottom of the "Choir Update Page". It's called "Original Choir Information". The main things are:
-
Meet at the Christmas tree by 4:50 p.m.
-
Dress for the weather. Umbrellas are OK if it's raining.
-
Plan to arrive early - parking can be CRAZY that night. Carpooling is encouraged.
-
We'll be done by 5:20 ish.
-
Yes, you can use your phone or printed lyrics.
-
Invite your friends and family to come and enjoy this great community event
-
-
After thinking about it, we will not be ending with "Silent Night". It was a nice thought, that that's more of a candle light Christmas Eve thing. So, you do not need to bring a light source.
-
TO BE CLEAR....... I would like to agree on some labels that will hopefully help all of us. On the Song "Silver Carol of the Bells", there will no longer be "ding dongs" and "yahoos". Instead, I will refer to you as "Part 1" & "Part 2". Feel free to ask me what I mean if I use different names for those 2 groups while we are rehearsing.
-
TO CONTINUE TO BE CLEAR...... In the song "Do You Hear What I Hear", I will use these terms - "Melody" for those who sing the first "Do you hear...." this group should include everyone under 13 years old and several adults. We need this to be the strongest thing we hear. The others will be called "Echo 1" and "Echo 2".
-
Here is the order of the songs as of today.... It could change up to December 2. For the tree lighting, we will sing the songs in the order they appear on the lyric list you will have in your phone.
-
Deck The Halls
-
Jingling Bell Medley
-
Christmas in the Northwest
-
Santa Rap
-
Silver Carol of the Bells Medley
-
I Love Snow Medley
-
Do You Hear What I Hear

COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CHOIR - 2nd Rehearsal Notes

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your patience as I stumbled through "Carol of the Bells". I was not a prepared as I should have been. I apologize for not being a better steward of your time. Hopefully, our next rehearsal will help us all feel better about our parts for that song. I am hoping to create a scored version of the arrangement that will be available for those that read music. Watch the update page for a link to a printable version of the score - including the lyrics. My goal is to have it done by the end of Friday, November 17.
-
Our next rehearsal will start at 6:45-7:45 p.m. Not sure if we can be in the room any earlier than that.
-
We will NOT be doing a recording.
-
You may notice that there are 2 different links on the “Choir Update Page” for lyrics on your device. The one that you can use in rehearsal is the one without the tracks. That way, we won’t “accidentally” have tracks starting all over the room. This will also help our audience have access to the lyrics without them starting their own version of the tracks.
-
The QR code that we have for you at rehearsal will hopefully take you to the right lyrics from now on.
-
Lyrics - You will be allowed to use your phone or printed lyrics during the tree lighting. It will be very dark, so your phone is your best bet. Also if it rains, printed paper will turn to mush very quickly and holding paper and an umbrella would be difficult.
-
You can still invite friends to join us for the final two rehearsals. The more the merrier.
-
Due to limitations of the sound system, we will not be having any solos or featured parts. We are going to try to include "Santa Rap" with everyone rapping as much as they can. Look on the choir update page for a link to a demo of the "Santa Rap" that you can use to figure out the rhythms. I hope to have it posted by the end of Friday, Nov 17th.

We’ll look at them again at the next rehearsal and then I’ll do a poll to see which ones we want to keep working on.
-
Please invite your friends and family members to join us.
-
We may outgrow the library room, so stay tuned for possible location change.
-
If anyone has access to a free room, let me know.
-
If this isn’t your cup of tea, you don’t have to come back…. If you don’t want to receive the emails, let me know.
-
Make sure you’ve bookmarked the Choir Update Page. I’ll post the things we talk about in the rehearsals there so you don’t miss anything important (and unimportant)
-
I added the links to each track on the “Lyrics On Device” page. If you want to practice, you can start the track and the lyrics will be right there. Let me know if something isn’t working.
-
We are NOT doing the recording session I mentioned on Monday. We want to keep this as non-stressful for everyone as possible. Everyone sounded so good at the first rehearsal, I’m confident that we will be able to produce lots of sound during the performance on December 2nd.
