HOME: Happy FALL Y'all!

Decorate for Fall: Step 1-The Front Door

Today is October 1. I tend to start my annual fight with S.A.D. right about now. BUT I am finding that if I go outside, create something and nap a little, I have found some healthy therapy.

Decorating!? Yup. Now maybe you have money to buy over 50 gorgeous pumpkins to cascade down a high end staircase, but I don't. Don't get me wrong!!! I POUR over those gorgeous pics on pinterest and instagram. They totally inspire me!!! And I am so glad someone has the time to create beauty like that.

However, we live very simply.

So this is how to take inspiration from projects that cost probably $200 and spend - let's see- 4 pansies for $6, 2 pumpkins for $6, 4 pepper plants for $6, and 2 mums for $4. So for $22 total thanks to waiting for the sales, or procrastinating maybe till they were on sale.

Anyway, that's all I spent. I have a fall box with a leaf garland and pine cones and a few things I pull out every year but try to use differently each year.

So if you're depressed, celebrate and decorate. If you're on a budget, don't spend much. Look at gorgeous photos, but don't compare yourself. Do what YOU like because YOU like it. Stay homey if you want. Go classy if you want. Take filtered photos... or don't.

You see, I could envy those pretty photos for the money they have to spend, the professional photographer to make it look perfect...or I could celebrate FALL! It's here for me as much as for me! All I have to do is look around, see what I have in my hands and be grateful.

Prov 14:30 "A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones."

This is YOUR life. It has been given to you. Live it. Don't try to live someone else's. To do that, envy someone, robs you of your own life!

Sorry, processing here... there were times when I couldn't afford even the plants. But I still pulled out my Alabama pinecones that my parents brought, at my request, from my childhood yard. (You pay a TON in a craft store for what we had to rake up as kids. LOL)

So Happy Fall, Y'all!

love,

Lydia C
