Old Friends

This is for an old friend, who has become a recognized poet. It's too personal to send safely, but if they read it "on the wall" it will be as intended. Honest but wisely safe because it's full of respect, but not crossing too intimately. I like to protect my friends.

Old Friends, we are
Still
Humming along in separate
Vibrations
Half way around
The globe.
Like planets
Circling
The sun in all her glory
We do
Best
Not too close
But still
We are friends, we are
Because
We once let each other become
Imagination
Inspired friends
So different
So different, from who
We are today
From even who we were
At the time our revolutions
Passed by.
You will always be my
Friend
Even though neither of us
Became
Expectations
We dreamed
In passing.
This is horrible
Poetry
But who cares
Friends
Care
Best
When they don’t.
love,
Your old friend, Lydia
